(Spoilers through chapter 12)
I think it will, Lily will become a writer and take over the bee keeping business while she waits for Zach to finish becoming a lawyer and going back to her. Do you think they’ll end up together? I hope so. It seems August has more compassion and insight than we first thought, she seems really nice, and I’m glad that June has come around to Lily too.
It’s really sad that May died :( she seemed to be the one who Rosaleen was connecting with most. She seemed to be filling the place that April left, but now she has to fill the place that May left. But on a happier note, I’m really glad June is finally getting married! Yay!
I think the end will definitely have something to do with T Ray hunting her down, as scary as that sounds. What breaks my heart most is that when Lily calls, he makes it all about himself, he’s to single minded to see outside of his own world. It is kinda sad that Lily’s mother only stayed with him because of Lily, no one should have to put up with that. It makes sense why she felt the need to run away to August. Abuse makes people do crazy things. Lily’s feelings are valid too though, she has a right to feel upset and angry, but it’s so nice that she has the calendar sisters and the Daughters to be that womanly role model for her.
How do you think the Civil Rights issues are going to turn out? Zach’s already been arrested once, and I really hope it stays that way, just once. I liked August's take on the situation, that '"There is nothing perfect, there is only life"' (256).
I think the strong feminism and being proud of one’s race are really heavy in the book, but I think they are very well warranted and deserved. Good book choice!
How do you think Lily is going to have “grown up” by the end of the book?
